My name is Cierra Magana and I am the VP & Chief Creative Officer of Shade & Sass Entertainment— a versatile creative agency founded by myself and my best friend, Shania Roper.
Shania and I met in college. We started as roommates and became the best of friends. Eventually, we knew we wanted to start a business together, so we came up with the phrase “Shade & Sass” with the help of one of our friends… (We definitely know how to throw some shade and be a little sassy). From there, we figured we’d combine our talents and love for the arts to create an agency that helped other creatives like ourselves with their brands & businesses.
Shade & Sass is a black, female owned company that we launched in January of 2020. We work with all kinds of small businesses and creatives, from musicians to authors, photographers, models, MUAs, and all other content creators! We even just signed a podcast!
At first, facing the pandemic brought us extreme anxiety and stress. We weren’t sure how it was going to affect our business. While many companies were hurting severely, we actually managed to still be able to grow our clientele. Though we aren’t able to do many in-person meetings & events, we’re still succeeding through social media campaigns, media placements, and consulting with our clients, allowing them to flourish in their creative endeavors. As a new company, it was scary to have to deal with something so different, but we’ve been able to make it through! All of our clients are great and we’re on the hunt for new creatives and businesses to add to our roster.
A little background on who we are individually:
Shania – A public relations guru & aspiring reality TV star, Shania has played many roles on television, which includes HBOMax’s Legendary, MTV, & Wu-Tang: An American Saga. Studied Broadcast Journalism at William Paterson University and worked for many big companies, playing a crucial role in PR and entertainment. Her top campaigns include Pattern by Traces Ellis Ross and florence by mills. She’s a PR pro and triumphs when it comes to placements in the media.
Cierra – A singer, songwriter, and artist manager all in one. Studied Public Relations & Music Management at William Paterson University. Cierra grew up singing in school choirs & talent shows and going to her brother’s band’s gigs/shows. She also does freelance modeling and acting — she’s been seen on a billboard at Art Basel 2019 for Dirty Politics, played a role in a MTV show, hosted concerts throughout the city of Philadelphia, and recently featured in her first released song, What’s Da Vision? with Shade & Sass artist, Close Cash. Cierra has been street teaming & managing since 2016.
